"Initially, I had not planned to weigh in on the Council races, and in particular the open seat.  But having had the opportunity to get to know Ben Quintana better in the recent weeks and having looked closely at his positions on the key issues facing our city, I've come to conclude that Ben's vision for Boise is very much in tune with my own vision and priorities as Mayor.  I heartily endorse Ben's candidacy and look forward to having his passion, energy, and commitment to promoting livability on the City Council."

- Dave Bieter, Mayor of Boise

"I full-heartedly endorse Ben Quintana for the Boise City Council.  In terms of economic development and job creation, Ben is the most qualified candidate I have ever met.  Boise would benefit greatly from his expertise on our Council."

- TJ Thomson, Boise City Council Member

"Ben Quintana is the strongest pick for the City Council’s one open seat.  With his economic background and measured approach, Quintana is a solid choice."

- Idaho Statesman

"A highly-trained and well-equipped fire department is dependent upon a strong local economy.  We believe Ben has the right kind of energy and experience to help the Council move forward in strengthening the economy.  We also know that public safety is a factor in attracting new business to the City.  Ben's commitment to public safety and economic development is second-to-none."

- Jim Walker, Boise Firefighters Union

Ben_and_Mary_Olson.jpg"I met Ben in 2006 when he enrolled in the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL) program at George Fox University's Boise Center.  I had the privilege of serving as Ben's academic advisor as well as one of his faculty members throughout the two-year curriculum.  Since his graduation in 2008, Ben has remained connected with George Fox through various university-sponsored events and as a member of our School of Business MBA Advisory Board.

I have been working in the field of higher education for over 20 years.  As I reflect back on the hundreds of students I have taught and advised during that tenure, Ben Quintana rises to the top.  He is a gifted leader with a passion for enhancing the quality of life within our community.  His many years of experience with the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, coupled with his extensive community involvement, make him an ideal candidate for City Council.  Ben is a person committed to making a difference in the lives of others, a person I believe has enourmous potential to positively impact the Boise Valley.  I strongly encourage you to vote for Ben Quintana for Boise City Council on November 8th."

- Mary Olson, MBA Director, George Fox University Boise Campus

When I was a student at Boise State, I had the pleasure of working with Ben on a number of initiatives, both through Boise State’s student government, and my fraternity, Delta Upsilon. In my opinion, Ben’s passion for the inclusion of young people makes him the obvious choice for this city council seat. Unlike so many in local and state government, Ben knows the value of Boise’s youth as up-and-coming professionals, and what they can contribute to making this great city even better.

Ben was of great support in establishing new ways to activate the voice of young people. Also, to me personally, he was very supportive of my decision to volunteer in the third world for two years. This man has his priorities straight and I wouldn’t think of voting for anyone else.

I’ve known Ben since college (while attending for my undergrad at Boise State University), I’ve seen Ben accomplish many great things for our entire community. One fantastic example of his abilities is he gathered 16 of us young professional types from all different walks of life from all over the Treasure Valley to become the steering committee of a new group he had a vision to start for Boise. Through Ben’s fearless leadership we founded the Boise Young Professionals, now five years ago. A thriving group that I’m very proud to have helped start with Ben. I was the first Civic and Community Involvement Work-Team Co-Chair and Ben showed up to our events, one being “For the Love of Politics” where we had a pannel discussion with various elected officials, it was amazing. And although we had many meetings and many hours devoted to getting BYP started, even just after I had my first child, Ben made it very easy to want to be a part of what he truly believes in. I’ll never forget how he managed to help us pull together a kick-off video to play at the BYP kick-off event in less than 48 hours. (No easy task when we wanted to make it cool and have motion graphics too… here is the link of the video Peppershock produced for BYP 5 years ago now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn5VVPKckgM) We played our video at the kick-off event and also featured a well known speaker/author of the book called the “Speed of Trust” by Stephen R. Covey. As I look back, I think it was very fitting because we all have so much trust in Ben and have seen first hand what he is very capable of accomplishing.

In the line of work I’m in we generally don’t endorse political candidates unless we really feel as though the candidate is going to make us proud to have endorsed them; I can safely say that I wholeheartedly endorse Ben Quintana as the next Boise City Councilman, Seat 2 and someday could see Ben, along with his very supportive wife, Christine Quintana doing even more for our wonderful community, they make a great pair.

I hope my endorsement will encourage you to vote for Ben for Boise City Council, Seat 2 on November 8th, or get an absentee ballot because unfortunately I’m unable to vote for him since I live outside of the district, so go make up for my inability to vote for him for this election and spread the word to others who CAN and WILL vote for Ben!

Many thanks,

I met Ben through the Chamber’s Leadership Boise program. His experience though that program over a half dozen or so years provided him with an incredible perspective of all issues facing Boise. And when he does not know about an issue, he takes the time to ask relevant questions and listen to others’ positions before making a decision. But what I like most about him is that he has high moral standards, strong personal values and an outstanding character. In my book, those are the traits I want to see a politician bring to the table when he is making tough decisions that affect the entire community.
